American jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger and bandleader. Born on April 14, 1924 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Died on November 7, 1994 (aged 70) in Van Nuys, California (USA). Worked with [a=Will Bradley], [a=Red Norvo], [a=Teddy Charles], [a=Woody Herman], [a=Charlie Barnet] and [a=Stan Kenton], among others. In addition to leading his own jazz groups, he was a producer and writer, and teamed with [a=Kelly Gordon] for a number of productions, especially in the late 1960s. He is also known for having arranged and conducted several records for [a=The Monkees] and [a=Michael Nesmith] and for his soundtracks.
